The Gang

Paul Madvig is a businessman in an American town in the 1920s, doing everything to maintain his power. He plans to marry Janet, the daughter of senator Ralph Henry who must be re-elected in order to ensure Paul's position. Paul is sure of himself and treats his competitor Shad O'Rory, who is involved in the gambling business, with arrogance. Then the senator's son is murdered. It is rumoured that Paul is behind the murder. Private detective Ned Beaumont, an old friend of Paul's, starts to investigate the case. Based on the novel "The Glass Key" by Dashiell Hammett.

Biography

Astrid Arak (Astrid Koik) was born in Tallinn, Republic of Estonia. Estonian Soviet dancer, actress. Member of the Estonian Theatre Society (1956). Studied at the 4th Tallinn Secondary School and dance studios of Tamara Beck and others. From 1945 to 1947 she studied at the drama studio of the Vanemuine Theatre. From 1944 to 1949 - dancer in the troupe of the Vanemuine Theatre. From 1949 to 1957 - soloist of the operetta of the Estonian Opera and Ballet Theatre. From 1959 to 1960 - worked at the Moscow State Concert. From 1960 to 1963 - worked at the Musical and Drama Theatre of Petrozavodsk (Karelia). From 1963 to 1970 - worked at the Chisinau Opera and Ballet Theatre. From 1971 to 1973 - assistant director of Estonian Television.
