(Copy from Documentary Club Thailand) “The best time in life is when the old powers have disappeared and the new ones have yet to arrive...” Fall of the Berlin Wall, November 9, 1989 Amidst the euphoria at the prospect of a fresh new start and the chance to create something new from the ensuing chaos surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall, we set off in search of idealists seeking utopia during their first hours of freedom, documenting the experience of their quest. BERLIN VORTEX focuses on five young “help-your-self” Germans, who begin their journey by taking over the unoccupied ruins of buildings in the Mitte district of Berlin. Including RAMMSTEIN Keyboarder FLAKE, choreographer SASCHA WALTZ and activists from the art house TACHELES. It is a film about human destinies against the backdrop of a singular historical state of emergency. A multi-facetted and lively portrait of the melting pot of East and West in the center of the German Capital Berlin is presented.
